First up, I'll hopefully be sending out christmas cards next weekend, so if you want one, now's your last chance to let me know!

I've been busy with #ITPE and the JLPT lately, but I really wanted to write a follow-up post to my initial impressions of the Fall Anime season, so here goes.

World Trigger:

Dropped it after 3 episodes. I didn't find the story particularly interesting, and the character that was the reason I checked it out in the first place (The Yosuke Hanamura look-alike <.<''') didn't appear in those 3 episodes. That's really all I can say about it.

Donten ni warau:

Oh dear. Ooooh dear. Okay, so, I didn't watch past the first couple episodes, but not because it was bad, or anything. The opposite, really. It got me interested enough that I started reading the manga, which, um. The manga is ridiculously gorgeous and I really, really liked it, until it came to what I'll just call The Reveal. The Reveal is a plot twist that makes narrative sense, is very effective and I can definitely see why the author chose to go that way, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. In fact I hate it. So, so much. Ugh. And I read until the very end, just to make sure it didn't turn around again, but no.

So yeah, I stopped watching the anime after that. I guess other people might still like the story? Though I have to say that even without The Reveal, there are things that would bother me. The youngest brother's story line is really just there to get him out of the way and doesn't lead to any character development, for example.

If by some miracle the anime went with a different ending I'd be back to watching it in a heart beat, but I don't have any reason to believe it will.

Still watching this one. It's a solid show, and it's cool to find out more about how anime production works, but it's lacking something I can't quite put my finger on. Something to get me really excited and give me that feeling of 'I can't wait for the next episode.'. And okay, it's a slice-of-life show, maybe I shouldn't expect it to give me the same feelings as the fantasy shows I usually watch, but still. Also, someone pointed out that, while the male characters are very diversely drawn, all the female characters have the exact same cutesy moe look and build, and now I keep noticing it every episode. :/ And there's still way too many characters.

Anyway, I'm still enjoying it. And the style is very nice, aside from the mentioned same-face problem.

Akatsuki no Yona:

I LOVE IT. <3 Seriously my favourite. After the inconsistencies in quality of the first couple episodes (1st episode: horrible 2nd: amazing 3rd: meh 4th: good except for the sound) it has evened out, and the last two episodes or so didn't have any sound issues at all. The animation is still nothing exceptional, but the story is really good, so that's something I can forgive. I actually read the manga as well because I really wanted to know what'S next. It's not finished yet, but there's 10 volumes or so already. I can't wait for the anime to get to Shin-Ah's story, or to the old lady pirate captain, aw yeah.

Orenchi no furo jijou:

Welll. It's still funny and cute and stuff? There hasn't really been any hint of a deeper story yet though. I guess there's still time.

Shigatsu wa kimi no uso:

Weirdly enough, I have yet to watch an episode beyond the first one. I hadn't expected to be this discouraged by the mere possibility of love triangles. I still don't know if there are any, but somehow, despite the amazingly gorgeous animation and the already interesting story, I haven't gone back to it. Maybe I will once the season is done and I've read a review or two.

Not all that much left, really. However, I've been watching other things lately (How to get away with murder, amazing; The Hundred, really cool and really making me want to read het fic???; Shameless is coming back soon, the promos have been killing me; Still have to catch up on Mushishi; only one more month until Durarara, aw yeah) and I've been playing, like, 5 games simultaneously (Let's see, Fire Emblem Awakening, Ace Attorney Dual Destinies, Ace Attorney vs. Professor Layton, Persona Q, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Dragon Age Origins and Final Fantasy Theatrythm, if you wanna count that. So...7. Not counting the other unfinished RPGs I'm taking a break from. <.<''').

*deep breath* So yeah. I'm keeping busy.
