2022 fanworks round-up
2022 sure was a year, huh! I'm pretty late with my the round-up this time around, which might be down to the fact that I, uh, didn't post all that much last year? <.<'' I only posted 6 podfics (coming up to 2 hours and 46 minutes), my lowest output in years, even though it was my 10 year podficversary and I really meant to celebrate that somehow. So I had some feelings about that, but I'm also trying not to be too down on myself. I'm proud of everything I did post, and I have a couple big things in the works that will hopefully see the light of year this time around.
I also posted 5 fics this year, coming in at 23280 words. I'm really happy with that output, especially since I managed to write a couple shorter, more contained things. Of course I still have my regular, spiraling-out-of-control wips, but hopefully one or two of them will be done soon.
With that out of the way, here's everything I posted in 2022:
Podfic

in it to win it (BTOB, gen-ish with hints of minkwang and changjae, figure skating au!) was the first podfic I posted this year, as part of pod_together in September, and it felt really good to focus back on podfic with this fic that was written with my performance in mind. This project may have had a target audience of 3 people, but I'm one of them, and I'm ecstatic that it exists. Also I'm actually really proud of how this cover came together, it makes me smile every time I look at it.

The Adventure of the Unnecessary and Frankly Terrifying AU (The Great Ace Attorney, gen, Naruhodou is a chicken. That's it, that's the fic.) was a win for me, because not only did I finally remember to prepare a multivoice for europod, but I found the absolute most hilarious possible option. More fandoms should have AUs where everything is the same but the main character is a chicken, I think.

part of something (haikyuu, kiyoko/yachi, a day in the life) was a podfic I had lying around for ages before I finally sat down and decided I was going to finish and post it, goddamnit. I think maybe two people total listened to this, but actually that was a pretty good reminder that I do this for myself. Posting this felt almost freeing in a way? It was a great feeling.

fumble through the fog (FE3H, Hilda Vs. Hubert feuding in an AU where Hilda joins the Black Eagles, bckground Hilda/Marianne and Hubert/Ferdinand) is another one that took me way too long to edit, but I'm so glad I finally did. This is exactly the kind of story I love to record the most. It's so, so funny, but still heartfelt where it matters.

chocolate as a declaration of love (Stray Kids, minsung, soulbond au) was the first of my ITPE gifts for pezzax. I think it had been almost 2 years since I last recorded this pairing, and I was really glad to find this story to get me back into the flow of it. Soft and comfortable and sweet. <3

do you want to hold me? tell me! (Seventeen, verwkan, manager Vernon/idol Seungkwan) was the second ITPE gift, and it had been even longer since I last recorded a Seventeen fic. I actually really love this cover, even though it's so simple? It's just very pleasing to me.
Fic
In terms of fic, I started the year out with my BTOB minkwang magnum opus, let's give it a go. This is probably up there in my top 3 of favourite things I've ever written, and I feel like the premise really played to my strengths. I like myself some everyone-thinks-they're-dating silliness, and combining that with the kind of...low-drama? comfiness? of this pairing was very fun. The whole reason why I wrote this fic in the first place was because I looked at minkwang in all their married-since-20 glory and thought, haha, how would I even write a not established relationship fic for them? This is how.
I did also write one Stray Kids fic this year: Haven, a coda to my Persona 4 au. I really wanted to post something in celebration of that fic's one year posting anniversary, and while it was initially just supposed to be some fluff, it ended up a bit heavier than. I think this universe might still have some things left for me to explore in the future, but it I leave it at this I think I won't mind, either.
Everything else I wrote this year was just me being the change I want to see in the world, which is to say it's all BTOB changjae, a pairing so fascinating to me that I can't believe almost no one is writing about them. The AO3 tag is pretty desolate, but I'm trying my best to improve it. It did take playing in someone else's universe to unlock my ability to write them, so Saturday nights don't feel the same without you is a short tribute to/missing scene from my dear friend kwangshina's PBCU (party boy cinematic universe). After that I mostly focused on writing my big fake dating wip (which is to my understanding of changjae what let's give it a go is to minkwang, basically), but also managed to post two shorter ideas that might end up getting expanded someday: you for me, an idol/manager au, and Dead Man Running, a kind of spy/assassins/enemies to ??? kind of story. I have so much fun putting these two idiots in all sorts of universes and situations, so hopefully I'll be able to write more of them this year.
And that's all for now. Hoping for more fannish joy and excitement in 2023 <3
